03-10-26 Bailey has come to us from a breeder to find the loving forever home she deserves. When she first arrived with us, Bailey was a very worried little girl who was unsure about being handled and clearly had not had much socialisation before. Since then, she is slowly starting to come out of her shell and is making good progress. Although she is still nervous, she is beginning to understand that gentle fusses can be rather lovely and is seeming much more relaxed.
Bailey can still find the kennel environment quite overwhelming and, at the moment, she does prefer to hide at the back of her kennel when people approach. However, she is a very playful girl with her kennel friends and absolutely loves having other dogs around her. Watching her play gives us a lovely glimpse of the happy, cheeky girl we think is waiting to emerge once she feels safe and settled. We feel that, with time and confidence, Bailey will be quite an energetic and playful girl.
Bailey will be looking for a calm and quiet home with adopters who have experience with scared ex-breeding dogs and who understand that she will need time, patience and plenty of reassurance as she learns to trust. Her new family will need to allow her to settle at her own pace and never ask more of her than she is ready for. We would consider a home with dog-savvy teenagers aged 16+.
Bailey relies heavily on other dogs for comfort and confidence, so she will need at least one other kind and confident resident dog who can be her friend and help show her that the world isn't such a scary place. Having another dog around will be very important for Bailey as she continues to build her confidence.
Bailey has never lived in a home before, so her adopters will need to be kind and understanding as she learns all about home life. She will need to learn about house training, the sights and sounds of a home, and how to walk nicely on a lead and harness. These things will all be completely new to her, but with the right support, patience and encouragement, we hope Bailey will blossom into a happy and loving companion.
Bailey is still at the beginning of her journey, but she has already shown us that there is a playful and sweet little girl hiding behind those worried eyes. She just needs someone willing to give her the time and understanding she needs to find her confidence and discover how wonderful life can be.
