Twig has come to us from a breeder and is now searching for a loving forever home. When she first arrived, Twig was a very worried and flighty girl who found new people quite overwhelming and would often bark and keep her distance. However, after spending some time getting to know her, we have seen a lovely side to Twig that we knew was hiding underneath all those nerves.

Twig has now been on her section for around a month and has formed a lovely bond with the staff member caring for her. Once she knows and trusts you, she is a completely different girl! She now loves coming over for fuss and will happily sit beside her favourite person waiting patiently for some attention. She is incredibly gentle about it too, never pushing the other dogs out of the way or getting jealous – she simply waits quietly for her turn. It has been wonderful to see her confidence grow and watch her realise that people can be kind.

Twig is still very different with people she doesn't know. She can bark and present as fearful and reactive when strangers approach, particularly while she is in her kennel, but once she gets to know someone, this behaviour settles and she becomes a quiet and affectionate little lady. For this reason, her adopters will need to understand that Twig will need time to build a relationship with them and may not immediately show them the sweet girl we know she can be.

Twig would love a calm and quiet, adult-only home with adopters who have experience with ex-breeder dogs and are prepared to be patient and understanding as she continues to learn about the world. She will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home who she can look to for reassurance as she adjusts to family life.

Twig has recently started her harness training, although she is still very much at the beginning of this journey. She will need her adopters to take things slowly and give her plenty of time to build her confidence before expecting her to venture out into the big wide world. Lots of gentle practice in the garden will be a good place to start, and her adopters should be prepared to take things at her pace rather than rushing her.

Twig is a sensitive girl who may take some time to fully trust her new family, but the progress she has already made shows us just how much potential she has. Once she knows you, she is such a sweet, gentle little lady who simply wants to be close to her person. She just needs someone willing to give her the time, patience and chance she deserves.
